Matt "Crimson Gaia" Gies is a prominent TO (Tournament Organizer), Top Player, Streamer, Commentator, Open Speedrunner, and developer on Sonic Riders DX and formerly on Sonic Riders Tournament Edition who currently resides in British Columbia, Canada. He first joined the community in February 2020 when he joined the "Sonic Riders Competitive" discord server, which at the time was the sole hub for competitive Sonic Riders. He was relatively unknown, only known for making custom textures, until April 2020 when he launched the '''FillyB's Ex World Grand Prix''' tournament series due to a lack of tournaments at the time. This series was known for accelerating meta development greatly, as earlier tournaments were held rarely on an irregular schedule.

Eventually joining the dev team for SRTE shortly after 1.3's release, Crimson was heavily involved with proceedings regarding the split of the dev team and the SRTE discord owner, going on to form Extreme Gear Labs. Leading up to DX 1.0 development, he was involved with texture work for the game and texture pack, and stage balance. He also ran the ExGL Youtube channel, creating promotional videos for the new mod. He was much more heavily involved with the creation of SRDX v2.0, as new features like new characters, skins, and menu reworks required new textures to be created at a large scale.
